We need a little Christmas ✨🎄❤️ The Holidays have always been our most favorite time of the year at the Pentagöet, and this year is no exception 🤩 So make sure to mark your calendars for these exciting events coming up in just a few weeks:

Friday, December 6, from 5-8pm: Our 3rd Annual Pentagöet Christmas Party & @toysfortotsofficial toy drive! Just bring one (or more!) unwrapped toy for entry 🧸⚽️🪁
Saturday, December 7, from 4-7pm: Light Up Castine with Santa Claus at the inn, complete with pub service for adults & complimentary gingerbread! 🎅🏼
Saturday, December 14, at 11am OR 3pm: Christmas Tea at the @belvedere1847 in Stockton Springs 🫖
Sunday, December 15, from 11-2pm: Christmas Drag Brunch with @deliciousdrag ($30pp, 18+) 💃🏽💃🏽

There is unmistakeable weight and grief in the air. This week, we’ve faced several questions, and we’ve found resilience in our answers. It has been good to step into the off-season and reflect ✨

When George and Matt took over the Pentagoet three years ago, we quickly found that we flourished in running our own hospitality business and that the little community of Castine did not hesitate to embrace us for who we are. When we face hardship or loss, our goals and desires remain the same: becoming the hospitality heart of Downeast through overflowing creativity and enthusiasm 💙

We know the following to be true, and it drives our business more than anything:
✨ Community thrives on collaboration, not competition. When we work together instead of competing, we create stronger, more vibrant communities. True success comes from lifting each other up, not from divisive and harmful rhetoric and actions. Our mandate is to continue to perpetuate community within our doors and beyond.
✨ Local businesses keep wealth in the community. Investing in small, local businesses ensures that profits stay local, fueling jobs and boosting the local economy while fostering a sense of shared purpose.
✨ Hospitality is an equitable enterprise. It does not discriminate. Our doors will always be open to offer a place of respite, a place where kindness comes first, especially when it feels like the world outside has chosen the opposite.
✨ People, our staff and our guests, are our greatest asset. We got into the hospitality business for our love of people. And even though people can be our biggest obstacle, they are also our greatest joy.

Entering into a season of Thanksgiving—we canceled our Thanksgiving wine tasting due to recent sadness that has fallen on our team. But we look forward to the coming holiday season. We will reopen our doors for Christmas activities with newfound joy ✨

Thanks to the Castine Rec Committee, the Pentagöet was proud to host our first annual Pumpkin Carving Contest! 🎃🤩🎃 Pre-pandemic, this was a town tradition, and we’re SO happy to help bring it back! We had 11 ghoulish creations, which tbh is a GREAT showing for the first year—and all of them were hand carved without stencils! 😱 The young pumpkin animators did a fabulous job—and the Witch of the Pentagöet Morgana was the guest judge. We can’t wait to see the creativity grow next year! ✨

With Halloween, the Witch of the Pentagöet Morgan

With Halloween, the Witch of the Pentagöet Morgana returns to her turreted tower in Castine! 🧙‍♀️🎃🖤 The town children rejoiced to see their favorite witch come back to town, and they descended upon the inn for her annual storytime and of course for candy during the Adams School Parade 🍭🍬 And naturally, Morgana taught the kids—that sometimes things aren’t as they seem, and even the wickedest of witches can be good ✨ Photos by @theworldic
